Even as a child, Franz was a diligent helper on the family farm. However, he soon realized what his heart really beats for.
At the age of 14 he decided to train as a winemaker and cellar master.
When he took over his parents' farm in 1989, he left cattle breeding and agriculture behind.
From now on he just wanted to make wine.

A new chapter began when Karoline Taferner joined the family business in 2015.
Studying viticulture and oenology at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna brought her to Australia and New Zealand professionally.
With new ideas, approaches and experiences, she now runs the winery together with father Franz.
Karoline is responsible for the winery's wines, export and sales.

His ancestors laid the foundation.
Franz Senior is a passionate winemaker and farmer.
His experience and knowledge enrich our work every day.
At 88 years of age, he can still be found on the tractor or in the vineyard every day.
As a vineyard manager and expert in pruning and foliage work, he is an indispensable member of our team and the first point of contact for our employees.
ILONA TAFERNER
CFO
Originally from finance and banking, she gave up her trained profession in 1989 and decided to start her own business.
Together with her husband Franz Taferner, she has been responsible for founding and developing the winery from the very beginning.
Today Ilona is our financial mastermind and is just starting her training to become a certified sommelier.
